About Me
My name is Kristin, I am a Qualified Social Worker, and an Early Childhood Professional. I have been in the helping professions for over 15 years.
I am a Mum to two beautiful children and very fortunate to have a very supportive partner.
I am passionate about encouraging and empowering people to be the best versions of themselves, whatever that may look like.
My Approach
Person centred approach - which focuses the importance of the client, their value system and ensure the client themselves, are included in the decision making process moving forward. The person centred process involves listening, thinking together, coaching, sharing ideas, and seeking feedback.
Solution focused approach - resetting negative thought patterns by replacing them with positive problem solving techniques. This approach highlights the importance of seeking out solutions with an intended positive outcome.
Theories underpinning my practice as a Social Work Clinician
Social Learning Theory - focuses on the effect of the environment and reinforcement on behaviour. Social learning theory puts forth the idea that people often model behaviour that they observe in their environment.
Systems Theory - states that behaviour is influenced by a variety of factors that work together as a system. A person’s parents, friends, school, economic class, home environment and other factors all influence how a person thinks and acts.
Psychosocial Theory – focuses on the ways that individuals are shaped by and react to their social environment.
Future plans
I have a commitment to myself and clients that I will endeavour to improve my practice and provide an array of services. I am a seIf confessed life long learner, and I plan to engage in ongoing learning, and professional development.
In time, I intend on becoming an Accredited Mental Health Social Worker.
The future is BRIGHT!
